Openai discovered a new model he today, GPT-4.5, but the beginning did not go as planned.
The company was finished by the GPU, or the computing power, before the discovery, according to CEO Sam Altman. So Openai is limiting his release to Subscribers Chatgpt Pro (200 dollars a month), as well as developers at the paid levels of API, who will pay $ 75 per 1 million signs (up from $ 15 for GPT-O1).

The initial plan was that the model was also available in the most affordable chatgt plus plan ($ 20/month), which is where Openi usually releases new products.
“It’s a giant, expensive model,” says Altman. “We really wanted to start it in plus and pro at the same time, but we have grown up a lot and we are out of GPUs. That’s not how we want to operate, but it’s hard to predict the growth growths that lead to GPU deficiency.”
The company plans to re-produce “tens of thousands of GPU next week” and then make GPT-4.5 available to plus users and team users, with enterprise users and Edu next week. Altman says “hundreds of thousands” more will come soon, and he is “very sure you will use all of us who can catch”.
The company will need them for the highly projected release of the GPT-5 in the coming months, as well as its joint commitment to spending $ 500 billion on the infrastructure of it in the next four years as part of Project Stargate.
Altman tempted expectations about GPT-4.5 performance, warning that “will not suppress standards”, as there are no standard metrics to measure improvement. “It’s a different kind of intelligence and there is a magic for him I haven’t felt before. Really excited for people to try!”
In a livestream this afternoon, the Openai engineers said the company created a way to prove how human the model is by measuring “Vibes” and “its creative intelligence”. Perhaps the goal is to use the model for customer service and daily tasks where friendliness and emotional intelligence (EQ) are more important than mathematical skills, for example.
“By vibes, we mean the model’s eq, how cooperative he feels and how warm his tone is,” says one engineer. “We measure this by choosing a quick thought group and examining our coaching for those that most matched our vibrations.”

In the demonstration, an engineer asks the model to design a text for a friend who canceled the plans, saying to them “hate” them. GPT-3.5 suggests not to reduce the tongue to be more productive. But the engineer rejects that suggestion and tells the chatgpt to be less “judgmental” of their approach and compose the hate text. GPT-4.5 then generates a text with a line that was very similar to quickly initial and not particularly impressive.
The other demo compared the answers from GPT-4.5 and GPT-O1 on a question about the explanation of it. The answers look identical, though the GPT-O1 took a little longer to generate it. Engineer underlines how the GPT-4.5 “response naturally flows [and] guides my opinion much more. ”
It is a little unusual to see Openai criticizing the response from the GPT-O1, a model that began in September and claimed to be the golden standard of intelligence. This is because he thinks through his answers in a step -by -step way, showing the user on the interface. This ability to pursue a chain of thought is reported to imitate people more than other models, which is what competitors say as anthropic.
But now Openai is saying GPT-4.5 is the golden standard in human interaction, and is likely to do the same when it reaches the GPT-5. Altman admitted “how complicated they have taken our model and product offers” in a recent social media post.
