In hunt for a new job? Building artificial intelligence technology can be a safe option.
The market for work in the sector has increased in the last two years, according to a recent analysis by the University of Maryland and Limkku’s job tracking firms – The most recent in a major study showing that the skills are in high demand.
Anil Gupta, a professor of strategy, globalization and entrepreneurship at the University of Maryland Business School of Maryland, who co-directed the study, said the analysis showed a “clear effect”, referring to how the start of chatbot developed by Openai led to the post-replace work lists related to IT.
The analysis comes from Aimaps, a collaboration between the Business School and the University of Maryland’s League of Maryland. The program tracks the growth of Work in various sectors in the United States, such as retail production and sale.
Work posts in the fields he painted 68% in The United States since the end of 2022, while general labor posts have fallen 17% in the same period, according to Aimaps data. According to Ziprecruiter data provided for CNN, it has increased 124% from 2023 by the end of 2024.
In January, LinkedIn listed the engineer of him and the consultant as the fastest growing jobs in the US, and the PWC revealed last year that the jobs that required the ability to grow more than three times faster than all work.
On the other hand, IT job posts (including those who write not related programs) have also dropped 27% since the end of 2022, according to Gupta.
While it has resulted in some new types of work, technology giants have also reduced their work forces after announcing large investments in the technology of it – though not all vacations were because it replaced human workers. Last year, Google gave up workers on his Google Divisions Assistant and Hardware a few months after announcing a multibillion dollar investment in the start of anthropic. And a study by the World Economic Forum last month found that 41% of employers aim to reduce their labor force in favor of it by 2030.
“We already know Github Copilot and other means of it are able to make 60-70% of coding,” Gupta said. “Four people can do the job of 10.”
The global race and he is starting alone, as evidenced by the latest release of Deepseek, a Chinese beginning that shocked the market with a model that is reported to take place at a part of the cost of US competitors like chatgpt.
Gupta said that the open-source access to Deepseek-that is, its architecture is available to other companies to use and adapt to the growth of it.
“This will lead to an even faster setting of technology in every industry, be the development of software, technical services, banking, insurance, production or agriculture,” his team wrote in their analysis.
Over two years since Chatgpt helped arouse a boom of him, American technology giants are still making big investments in their programs. In January, Microsoft announced plans to invest about $ 80 billion in the 2025 fiscal fiscal in he, and President Donald Trump announced the creation of Stargate, a collaboration between Openai, Softbank and Oracle plans to invest up to $ 500 billion in the infrastructure of him in the coming years.
Artificial intelligence work is in particular high demand in the counseling sector, Gupta said, as non-Ai firms usually hire counseling firms such as Accenture and Bain to help develop it-for example, a machine learning engineer or a product manager for a generating vehicle. The ERNST & Young Accounting Firm reported in December that 97% of business leaders whose organizations invested in it saw positive investment returns.
But many companies can still be slow to adopt technology among the potential risks of intimacy and security, said Julia Pollak, chief economist at Ziprecruiter.
Increasing work and it is happening along with a slowdown of Broarder in hiring throughout the labor market. Companies are increasingly looking for more “to do more,” said Lisa Simon, the Economist chief in Reverio Labs, who traces the workforce available to the public.
“They have been focused on functions, eliminating unnecessary roles, reviewing each function and reducing the management layers, focusing very closely on cost control,” Ziprecruiter said Pollak. “This has been a direct result of high interest rates and lower access to credit.”
Despite the highest demand for work, it is very quickly to show how the boom I is affecting specific work, Pollak added. It speculates that employment of plans can be “weaker” now because it has made some areas, such as writing content, more efficient.
“We think that work that is in particular by adopting it is seeing a greater decline in employment,” Simon said.
Companies’ efforts to “do more with less” extend beyond the use of it in the workplace, with Reverio Labs reporting last week that US companies are increasingly hiring high -skilled positions abroad, especially those that are suitable for distance work.
“The realization that companies no longer need to hire consultants or software engineers in the most expensive location has made in office an attractive opportunity, cost savings in workforce planning,” the report said.
The technology industry increased rapidly during the pandemic, as businesses within people went through goods and services online. But consumer behavior and economic activity have returned to pre-fandemic models, the business statistics Bureau records.
Work in the Software Publication sector increased 30% from March 2020 to September 2022 – but shrunk 1% between September 2022 and December 2024, according to the Bureau of Labor Bureau. At the national level, the growth behind the foundation has been more stable, with a 2% increase in jobs between March 2020 and September 2022 and a 4% increase since then.
Regarding the fear that he will lead to mass unemployment, Gupta offered a more optimistic appearance, saying he believes the corporate world instead will fit the efficiency of technology.
“There was a time when a six-day work week was the norm, and now (we have a) five-day work week,” Gupta said. “Can it be in 10-20 years, it’s a four-day work week? I think the prospects of this are very, very high.”
