A French movie with a woman claiming to marry her hit son in the top 10 of Netflix

Week every week, Netflix reveals its top 10 lists, listing its most watched movies and shows. Although some of these high titles are expected, others may surprise. Here we try to understand those seemingly random hits.

France has a reputation to be sexually liberal, and a latest French film that fell into the broadcast, Honeymoon Crasher, is undermining that reputation to laugh in a way that is extremely fun. It made me worry that I shouldn’t laugh as much as I did in some cases in my eyes. (I should point out that I have seen the film in French with subtitles, which is a better experience than to look at the duplicate version.)

Honeymoon Crasher, which was in no. 1 In the list of the Top 10 of Netflix’s non-English films, Michèle Laroque stars, a middle-aged woman, whose son Lucas (Julien Frison) was left at the altar by his fiancé, Elodie. After that, Lucas is not only depressed that he had been abandoned by the woman he loves, but he also spent a ton of money in the perfect honeymoon, and the journey will go to lose if he does not go. And so, out of pity for his mother (she and Lucas’s father are married, but never had the chance to get a month of honey), and from a desire to make his ex -pelvis in society claiming to bring a new girlfriend who does not exist, he and his mother go to Mauritius for a tropical departure.

From refrigerators talking on the iPhone, our experts are here to help make the world a little less complicated.

This sounds quite innocent so far, only a mother and her son raised on a trip together. However, the jokes begin to pour when Lily realizes that staff and other guests think she and Lucas are newlyweds and impressed by their progressive May-December romance. Their suite is improved by the hotel manager, who sees Lily as an aspirating figure, and the guests are fascinated by the way Lily and Lucas met. “She was there when I was born,” Lucas tells another couple in one of the strangest sequences of the movie. “She was the first person to keep me … We’ve been together since then.” In this case, Lucas is deliberately trying to crawl his mother as a payback to get too far, and is a smart way to make a joke as he admits how much it all sounds.

In the tradition of other comedies with R values, there are also numerous bodily humor and narcotics references. There is an exclusively dedicated sequence to Lucas trying to prevent himself from emitting uncontrollable diarrhea throughout a woman for whom he has a press while flirting on the beach. Shortly thereafter, Lucas and Lily are thrown into prison to smoke smoking.

What is interesting to me as a movie observer (and for the record, my work requires me to watch more Hallmark and Lifetime films than your average person you probably do) is how Honeymoon Crasher opposes the movie currently sitting above the English Netflix Top 10, La Dolce Villa. A cozy romance set in Italy by interpreting Scott Foley that descends well and exists in a universe where the term Milf could not exist. La Dolce Villa and other romances known as Hot Frosty and Love, guaranteed are essentially the netflix version of Hallmark: formulaic and soft – and savage popular. To see the two mixed movies in the main positions of the Netflix movie tables almost feel like a social comment on what the American audience VS French is comfortable with it (until you remember that White Lotus 3 currently contains a sisters scenario that just happens to be more delicate in its boredom).

Although Crasher Honeymoon is filled with dark, delightful humor, after all it is a mother and son whose seductive relationship is tested and ultimately improves after all the seeds (and fart?) Is used. Ironically, on paper, it is not so different from La Dolce Villa, which also contains a parent and adult child traveling to the world and gains a mirror of each other. It is clear that the two film formulas are successful on the platform, but if you have already watched La Dolce Villa and want something with more advantage, try Oedipal’s arrangement in Honeymoon Crasher.
